Ravenna, MI

The Village of Ravenna is a home rule village chartered in 1922 with a population of 1,308 (2020 US Census).  As a form of local government in Michigan, villages have local control over many governmental functions.  But as a village, some local functions such as assessing and voting are administered through the townships that overlap the villages.  For the Village of Ravenna, assessing, voting, fire protection, the local library branch and the cemetery are administered by Ravenna Township.  Residents of the Village of Ravenna are also residents of Ravenna Township and property owners pay taxes to both jurisdictions.  The Village government administers planning and zoning for the Village, three development authorities, and local ordinances.   The Village maintains 11 miles of paved road and operates a water and sewer system that serve the Village and nearby township residents and businesses.   The Village owns and operates two great parks, Thatcher Park and Conklin Park.  Additionally, the Village assists other agencies by mowing the Musketawa trailhead grass and plowing the RAFD parking lot.
